The men and women who comprise the Community Outreach Commission:

  • Promote outreach programs with emphasis on social services, pro-life, social justice and community ministries, cooperating with other churches and civic organizations in projects aimed at community improvement.

  • Identify and analyze major social problems in the parish as well as in the larger civic community.

  • Maintain working contact with resource people and pertinent agencies for problems such as drugs, delinquency, alcoholism, and abuse of family members.

  • Promote suitable projects in the areas of economics, politics, and international life.

African-American Affairs

This ministry helps all parishioners and visitors feel welcome to worship here as often as they choose. Parishioners involved in this ministry identify and respond to the needs of its black parishioners and to welcome black non-Catholics to worship at our Church.

Burmese Outreach

This ministry helps all parishioners and visitors feel welcome to worship here as often as they choose. Parishioners involved in this ministry identify and respond to the needs of its Burmese parishioners and to welcome Burmese non-Catholics to worship at our Church. Feeding the Hungry Ministry
Food Pantry

Meet and work with fellow parishioners who share Christ’s command to feed the hungry is very rewarding. This ministry seeks and helps feed the hungry of our community through the Church’s Food Pantry.

Share Sunday (2nd Sunday of the month) 

Share Sunday is a way all parishioners can help keep the Food Pantry well stocked by bringing canned and other nonperishable food to Mass. For more information about this ministry and how you can become involved contact Karen Posadas or Osmara Villialobos (704-535-3310).

Respect Life Committee

This ministry promotes respect for all life, especially the weakest and most vulnerable among us, in accordance with the Lord’s words, “Just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to Me.”

Its mission is to promote the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.  The group participates annually in the Life Chain, Roses for Life, March for Life, and Spiritual Adoption. Special benefits from this ministry include gaining a greater regard for God’s wonderful gift of life. Vietnamese Affairs Ministry

Encourages Vietnamese Catholics at OLA to be actively involved in parish and community life. Members hosts Mass and confessions in Vietnamese once a month (Fr. Peter Pham).
